of Hispanic Meeting Professionals GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Preamble
- To develop leadership and professional
skills of Hispanic Meeting Professionals.
- To encourage Hispanic students pursuing
careers in the meetings and hospitality industry.
- To stimulate interest in the Hispanic
culture and its potential for enhancing the meeting experience.
- To create a community for celebration
of the common interests of Hispanic meeting professionals.
- To support Hispanic managerial positions
within the meetings and hospitality industry.
- To quantify and publicize the economic
impact of Hispanic meetings and conventions.
- To further industry and public recognition
of the unique contribution of Hispanic meeting professionals.
- To assist hospitality industry-related
companies marketing to Hispanics.
Code of Professional Conduct
and Ethics
- Unethical practices which would be damaging
to the public, and bring disgrace to the meetings and hospitality
industry are prohibited.
- The highest standard of professionalism
and integrity will be carried out in business, professional
and personal activities at all times.
- IAHMP members will conduct themselves
in an honest, knowledgeable, responsible, reliable and competent
manner.
- Acceptance of gratuities, monetary gifts,
favors or complimentary services which influence questionable,
or unfair business practices is prohibited.
- Complete and accurate information about
services, facilities, needs, schedules, policies, rules
and regulations concerning business relationships with attendees,
clients, customers or suppliers will be provided in a written
contract, signed, dated and agreed to by all parties concerned.
- Maintenance of accurate records and contractural
obligation will always be available for inspection by employer,
client, supplier or all parties concerned.
- Conflict of interests activities are prohibited.
- Denial of service to prospective attendees,
clients or customers because of a person's gender, national
origin, race, religion, sexual orientation and mental or
physical handicaps is prohibited.
- The objectives and goals of an organization
or its attendees must be considered in advance of selecting
a site and making final meeting arrangements.
- All written commitments will be honored.
No members will be prevented from seeking redress for any
grievance in accord with contractural terms.
- Taking unfair advantage by soliciting
information, proposals, formats or ideas from another buyer
or supplier who is already involved in the proposal is not
allowed.
- IAHMP members should continue to pursue
higher education through a college degree program or through
other profession related avenues to continue achieving professional
and personal enhancement.
- Members are encouraged to take active
roles in civic and other community related activities conducting
themselves in an honest and dignified manner.
- The Board of Directors will consider written
complaints from any individual regarding a member's alleged
unethical practices or improper conduct violations.
- A member who violates an IAHMP by-law
or policy that would bring disrepute to the association
will be subject to disciplinary action by the Board of Directors.
A conviction, judgement or finding of guilt by any court
of competent jurisdiction of a felony or crime involving
moral turpitude in violation of any federal, state or local
law will also be considered just cause for disciplinary
action.
- The Board of Directors will review and
investigate the complaint and determine the final action
to be taken.
- The decision of the Board of Directors
shall be made by a majority vote.
- All Board meetings and activities in relation
to conduct and disciplinary actions will be deemed confidential
in nature.
